In the early morning hours of Saturday, April 6, residents of Acará, a municipality outside of Belém, capital of Brazil’s Northern state of Pará in the Amazon region, awoke to the distressing news that a transport ferry had crashed into the support pillars of a major bridge in the area, causing it to fall into the Moju River.
