Blink and you’ll miss the world in ‘About Endlessness’

The City of Helsinki and Aalto University are establishing a new incubator for Helsinki-based start-ups, called Urban Tech Helsinki. The aim of the incubator for clean and sustainable urban solutions will be to create innovative and growth-oriented companies that focus on solving the challenges faced by modern cities. A special emphasis will be on clean energy, mobility, sustainable construction, the circular economy, waste management and urban food production.

When we climbed the stair tower to the roof of a local distribution center along with our teaming partner, Coastal Solar, we knew which ingredients were necessary to install this massive 500kW solar pv system.  Le Creuset, at nearly a century old and known for their superior quality cookware, had asked Coastal Solar to help make their SC warehouse more efficient financially while planting their flag as a leader in environmental stewardship. We combined the talents of our two solar companies and savored the moment when Le Creuset became less reliance on fossil fuel and greatly diminished their carbon footprint.

Thai researchers have developed a portable device – whimsically shaped like a chilli pepper – that can assess how ‘hot’ a pepper will be by detecting how much capsaicin it contains.  Chilli peppers are a popular food ingredient around the world. But all types of chillis contain different levels of capsaicin. This is a compound that gives chilli peppers their kick and may give a palate-singeing burn to people not used to spicy foods.
