After China recently stopped accepting recyclables from the United States, more and more plastic material started being burned or landfilled. To address this, California aimed to become one of the first states to ban single-use plastics, but the bill was blocked by industry lobbyists.
The National Trust is phasing out single-use plastics from its shops and cafes by 2022, as efforts to tackle the issue of plastic waste gather pace. The charity, which looks after more than 500 historic properties, 775 miles of coastline and more than 600,000 acres of countryside, said it was committed to cutting down on waste. It has pledged to ensure all its shops are free of single-use plastics and remove all throwaway plastic bottles from its cafes by 2022.

Epson’s latest platinum rating reflects its ongoing commitment and notable improvements towards sustainable growth in the past year.
Their first plastic-free vessel, M/S Panorama II sailing in Bali and the Indonesian Islands is offering discounts up to 50 percent this summer.
China’s State Administration of Market Regulation (SAMR) said on Monday it would further regulate the sharing economy sector. SAMR said on its website that price hikes in the system built around the sharing of resources were effectively contained due to its oversight. The regulator also said it is investigating food delivery giant Meituan’s acquisition of bike sharing company Mobike in 2018. Separately, Meituan on Monday warned in a filing that it may be required to pay “a significant amount” of antitrust fines and posted a third consecutive quarterly loss as it continued to invest in expanding its various businesses.
