To advance its Ambition 2030 sustainability objectives, P&G has opened a new Product Supply Innovation Center (PSIC) in Germany’s Rhine-Main region. The Center will serve as a hub for collaboration with a network of local suppliers, tech companies, R&D institutions and top universities to develop solutions to decarbonize its global supply chain. By 2030, the company is aiming to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 50% across operations, purchase 100% renewable electricity globally, and achieve overall carbon neutrality.
Ørsted and Bigadan have completed construction of the biggest biogas plant in Eastern Denmark. In future, the residues from Novo Nordisk’s and Novozymes’ factories in Kalundborg on the west coast of Zealand will be transformed into bio-natural gas and fertilizer. The new biogas plant in Kalundborg will process approximately 300,000 tonnes of biomass from Novo Nordisk and Novozymes. The plant converts the residues into biogas, which is then upgraded to bio-natural gas. The climate-friendly bio-natural gas can be used as a substitute for fossil natural gas and delivers significant carbon savings. “Kalundborg Bioenergy is a fantastic example of how we can exploit the value in residues. Novo Nordisk and Novozymes produce insulin and enzymes in Kalundborg which are sold all over the world, and now the residues from production will be converted into energy and fertilizer at a local plant,” said Thomas Dalsgaard, Executive Vice President and CEO of Bioenergy & Thermal Power, Ørsted.
They are sold as a convenient, eco-friendly and very modern way to negotiate congested towns and cities. There are up to a million e-scooters on British streets – even though, in the vast majority of cases, it is actually illegal to ride them on public roads or pavements. But that’s a mere technicality to a growing army of enthusiasts. Machines taking part in an official nationwide trial of e-scooters for rent are restricted to 15.5mph, for example. There is talk of new laws limiting private e-scooters to 12.5mph. Yet the reality is quite different – and such limits meaningless.
