The Science to Action Fellowship program supports graduate students in developing a product that puts science into action, directly applying scientific research related to climate change impacts on fish, wildlife, or ecosystems to decision making about natural resources. The Science to Action (S2A) Fellowship was developed to expose graduate students to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) through the USGS National Climate Adaptation Science Center (NCASC), whose mission is to provide scientific information, tools, and techniques to help natural and cultural resource managers anticipate and adapt to the impacts of climate change on fish, wildlife, and ecosystems.
Whanganui District Council is committed to mitigating the impacts of climate change on our district, as well as enabling our community and local economy to become better adapted and resilient in the face of climate change. The purpose of this strategy is to plot a course for action to both mitigate and adapt to climate change, and to provide a framework for collaboration across the Whanganui District and beyond among tangata whenua, iwi, neighbouring councils, central government, non-government organisations, private industry, education, our communities and people. This strategy is about human activity and changing the way we think and live to reduce our impact on our planet. As such, this strategy has the health and well-being of the environment at its core, followed by the health and well-being of people, and the social and economic well-being of people and communities, now and in the future.
The most influential generation is challenging luxury brands to become more sustainable, showing that relevant messaging, product categories or interesting digital storytelling is not enough. Their expectations are significantly different from the millennials, for the younger generation sustainability matters, and even young investors would prefer to support brands with clear sustainability agendas. For example, Apple has become the leader in sustainability, after all the criticism regarding the waste their devices are producing. They have reinvented the entire customer lifecycle model. Digital practices with sustainability involve two components: the software side and the hardware side. The energy consumption put towards digital solutions and mobile devices will be a priority for consumers in the future. Consumers would likely demand more transparency on energy consumption and energy sources for the digital services they will receive.
