, World Circular Economy Forum: partners, leading experts discuss Africa’s post COVID-19 sustainable recovery, TheCircularEconomy.comThe African Development Bank organized a high-level session on fostering inclusivity and circularity in Africa’s post COVID-19 recovery.

The virtual event was part of the 2020 World Circular Economy Forum Online(link is external), an annual conference hosted by the Finnish Innovation Fund SITRA, which attracted more than 5,000 business leaders, policymakers and experts to present the world’s best circular economy solutions.

The Bank is a strategic partner of the African Circular Economy Alliance (ACEA), a country-led coalition of African nations and global partners committed to advancing the transition to a circular economy on the continent.

Social and solidarity economy actors seen as key to building a circular economy in France

ESS France, an apex representing social and solidarity economy organisations in the country, has launched Carte Eco, an interactive eco map to promote the sector’s role in the circular economy. The map features over 1,500 circular economy actors across seven French regions: Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Corse, Guyane, Île-de-France, Mayotte, Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Loire. A circular economy is an economic system aimed at eliminating waste and the continual use of resources, prioritising renewable energy sources and ensuring that raw materials, components and products lose their value as little as possible.

The regional LafargeHolcim Awards (Gold, Silver and Bronze) and Acknowledgement prize winning projects will be announced in a hybrid event on November 13, 2021, as part of the 17th international Biennale of Architecture in Venice, Italy. The Global LafargeHolcim Awards (Gold, Silver and Bronze) will be announced at the same event by Hashim Sarkis, curator of the Biennale and Head of the Global LafargeHolcim Awards jury 2021. Representatives of the 33 Main Category winning teams are invited to attend this event in person and receive the Awards and Acknowledgement prize trophies.
